How we write about private number plates

Plate Base publishes commercial guides and reference material on the UK private plate market. This page sets out our standards for sourcing, independence, review and corrections.

Independence

Editorial content is written independently of our marketplace and stock. Recommendations to buy, sell, retain or transfer are based on our reading of the market — never on which listing or advert generates the largest fee. We do not accept payment from plate dealers to feature specific registrations in guides.

Sourcing

Where we cite regulation, fees or DVLA procedure, we link to the primary source (gov.uk or the DVLA's Personalised Registrations service). Historical sale prices are sourced from public auction results and marketplace records; live pricing benchmarks come from our own daily comparables scan.

Review cycle

Every guide is date-stamped and reviewed at least annually, and immediately when DVLA fees, buyer's premiums or transfer procedures change. Substantial revisions are logged in the article's changelog.

Corrections

If you spot a factual error, email hello@platebase.online. We will correct it promptly and, where the error was material, add a visible correction note.

Author credentials

Plate Base's editorial team includes contributors with hands-on experience in the private plate market, DVLA processes and used-car retail. Author bylines and expertise are shown on every guide.
