Northern Irish number plates
Registrations issued by Northern Ireland's DVA that always contain the letter I or Z. Popular on the mainland because they carry no visible age.
Structure
One to three letters (always including I or Z), followed by up to four digits. Example: MIL 1, JIL 1234.
Year identifier
None. NI plates carry no age identifier and can be used on any vehicle registered in Great Britain.
Buying and pricing
Popular for their dateless appearance at a lower price point than mainland dateless plates. Short NI numbers with name-forming letters command the highest prices.
